Who can forget the 80's Volvo commercial where they crashtested a 760 dropping from 30ft and completely smashed the front end to show how safe their cars were?  That's how they gained their reputation for safety engineering, but it wasn't until the debut of the completely redesigned XC90 in 2014 that Volvo taught us that the Germans and Japanese brands weren't the only ones who could design a luxury vehicle.  Now that transformation is complete and all their models have the new design language, they are quite desirable and are not just the soccer mom's first choice.
